PEGS Is Growing - We Need Passionate Volunteers!
At PEGS, everything we do begins with lived experience. We’re a team built by people who understand Child to Parent Abuse (CPA) not just in theory, but in reality - and we’re committed to changing how CPA is understood and addressed across the UK.
Every day, parents and carers reach out to us feeling overwhelmed, isolated, and unsure where to turn. And every day, we do everything we can to make sure they feel heard, supported, and never alone. But as demand grows, so does our need for compassionate people willing to step forward. That’s why we’re building a new team of Volunteer Service Advisors, and you might be exactly who we’re looking for.
Why This Role Matters:
When a parent reaches out to PEGS, they’re often at one of the most difficult points in their life. They’ve taken a brave step in asking for help. What they need next is reassurance, clarity, and connection. That’s where our Volunteer Service Advisors come in.
You’ll be supporting our Parent Practitioners by contacting parents and carers who have been referred into our service. Your role is simple but powerful:
- updating them on the progress of their referral
- helping them understand the support PEGS can offer
- being a calm, friendly voice at a time when they need it most
- This early contact helps families feel grounded and supported
- practitioner-led sessions, workshops, or 11 support. It strengthens our service and helps us reach more families than ever before.
What the Role Looks Like Day to Day:
This is an office based role at our Shrewsbury headquarters, working alongside our team during normal operating hours. You’ll be part of a rota with other volunteers, and you’ll always have support around you.
Your tasks may include:
- responding to parents and professionals by phone, text, or email keeping accurate records
- raising safeguarding concerns with the DSLs or Volunteer Programme Lead
- contributing feedback or testimonials for project reporting
- attending meetings, training, and supervision sessions
- helping with general admin that keeps our service running smoothly
You don’t need to know everything on day one. You just need to bring empathy, reliability, and a willingness to learn. We’ll teach you the rest.
Skills That Help You Thrive:
You’ll be a great fit if you:
- communicate clearly and compassionately
- are comfortable using a phone, email, and basic computer tools
- can work independently but also enjoy being part of a team
- are organised and confident with admin tasks
- are open to learning new systems and approaches
- Experience in domestic abuse, safeguarding, or support services is helpful but absolutely not essential. What matters most is your heart and your commitment.
Training, Support, and Equipment - We’ve Got You
Every volunteer receives:
- full mandatory training
- ongoing development opportunities
- regular supervision and support
- the equipment needed to carry out the role (laptop and phone)
- coverage under PEGS insurance
You’ll never be expected to do anything you’re not trained or confident to do. We’re here to support you just as much as you support the families we work with.
Be Part of Something That Truly Matters...
Volunteering at PEGS isn’t just about giving your time, it’s about being part of a movement. A movement that believes no parent or carer should feel alone. A movement that’s reshaping how CPA is understood across the UK. A movement built on empathy, authenticity, and lived experience.
If you’re passionate about making a difference and want to join a supportive, forward thinking team, we would love to hear from you.
Your voice, your time, your compassion they could change someone’s life.
