With your help, we can ensure that every parent, carer or guardian who seeks support due to the abuse they are facing from their child receives the help they need.

How can we work with you?

We have a range of training courses designed to upskill frontline professionals on the topic of Child to Parent Abuse.

We regularly host online training which you can send members of your organisation along to - or if you'd like to train a number of your team at the same time, we can facilitate a specific course tailored to your needs.

Training includes:

  • Information about CPA including the latest research
  • Real-life case studies
  • Examples of best practice
  • Implementable suggestions for supporting parents
  • How to signpost (and who to)
  • Further information about our work at PEGS

Why is training important?

Parents can be reluctant to report CPA as they may feel worried about the response, they don't want to criminalise or demonise their child, they're not aware they're experiencing abuse, or they've had a negative experience with an organisation previously.

By upskilling as many frontline professionals as possible, we can reduce the barriers around parents seeking help - and ensure CPA can be more easily identified even when the family has not made a disclosure.

What about policies?

We are also able to offer consultancy services for organisations seeking to implement or develop policies around CPA. We have a track record of working with regional and national bodies to ensure they have a robust framework when it comes to supporting those impacted by this type of abuse.

Who have we worked with?

Police forces, local authorities, charities and voluntary organisations, schools, health services/boards, PCCs, private firms, safeguarding professionals...and many others.

We have a range of courses to meet your organisation's training needs:

CPA Awareness & Practice

Full day virtual course:

This is a thought-provoking and professionally challenging session, combining a mix of e-learning and live teaching sessions via Zoom. The course is designed to upskill individual practice, encourage professional curiosity, and improve the effectiveness of your organisation's CPA support.

Understanding CPA

Half day virtual course:

This training is designed to give attendees as much knowledge about Child to Parent Abuse as possible in a short amount of time, leaving them empowered to work alongside parents, carers and guardians experiencing this often-hidden or overlooked type of domestic abuse.

PRAM © Training

Half day virtual course:

PRAM (PEGS' Risk Assessment Model) was created as a dynamic tool to help professionals identify CPA, as an alternative to existing models which focus on intimate partner abuse. Using real-life case studies, the session will help trainees learn how to use PRAM, after which you will be authorised to use our PRAM© documentation.

Bespoke Courses

Tailored to you:

Looking for PEGS to deliver an in-person session, work with you longer term, or train your whole team over a number of dates?

We'd love to talk to you about how we can create bespoke training centered around your organisation's needs, using our expertise tailor the information shared, learning opportunities, and interactive elements of the course.

Awareness Talks

Short sessions:

If you're not necessarily in need of a full training course, but would like your team to be aware of the basics of CPA and what PEGS does, then we can offer a shorter one-off session covering an overview of both the topic and our organisation. Over the past few years, we've hosted virtual and in-person talks for colleges, universities, private sector firms, faith groups, domestic abuse charities, and many others.
