A Year of Growth, Learning and Support at PEGS
A Year of Growth, Learning and Support at PEGS
Standing alongside families experiencing Child to Parent Abuse
As we look back on this year, we feel incredibly proud and inspired by all that we’ve achieved together as a team. 2025 has been a year of learning, connection and meaningful impact for families experiencing Child to Parent Abuse (CPA), and for the professionals working hard to support them.
At PEGS, everything we do is rooted in compassion, understanding and the belief that no parent should face CPA alone.

Sharing Knowledge with Professionals
Helping professionals recognise and respond to CPA remains as a key step of our work. This year, PEGS has:
- Delivered training to 1,885 professionals
- Hosted 12 professional information sessions, supporting organisations to better understand CPA and the families impacted
- Supported team members to become PAWS Champions, helping to raise awareness and share best practice
Through this work, professionals feel more confident, informed and better equipped to support families who are and may be experiencing Child to Parent Abuse (CPA)
Connecting, Collaborating and Raising Awareness
This year, we’ve continued to ensure CPA remains part of national conversations. We’ve attended parliamentary events, connected with safeguarding leaders, and contributed as active panel members for DARDR.
We’ve also worked hard to bring CPA out of the shadows through media and storytelling. Our work has featured across:
This Morning, ITV, BBC, TalkTV, Sky, BBC Midlands, Express & Star, The Guardian, Shropshire Star, Yahoo, Metro, Digital Spy, Channel 5 News, BBC Shropshire, Chester & District, Prolific North, The Sun, MSN, AOL, Female First, Newcastle Magazine, alongside podcasts, interviews and online platforms.
We’ve also been proud to work with Hollyoaks on their current CPA storyline with Ste and Lucas.
And of course, our Breaking the Silence Conference brought together lived experience, sector-leading voices and powerful conversations focused on learning, hope and change.
We are proud to receive recognition for our work this year, including awards and lottery funding for the next three years, helping us continue supporting families who are impacted by CPA.
Supporting Parents Experiencing Child to Parent Abuse
You are not alone
Parenting can be incredibly rewarding but for some families, it can also feel frightening and isolating. Parents and carers experiencing CPA often describe feelings of fear, shame, confusion and exhaustion, and many feel unsure where to turn.
At PEGS, we want parents to know: you are not alone, and support is available.
A Safe Space for Emotional and Practical Support
Our services are designed to offer both emotional reassurance and practical guidance, delivered with compassion, without judgement, and at a pace that feels right for each individual.
Support includes:
- Practitioner-led drop-in sessions, available Monday–Friday, including two evening sessions per week
- One-to-one practitioner support, tailored to parents’ experiences (available in certain funded areas)
- Single support sessions and workshops, offering focused advice and guidance
- A specialist 6-week Child to Parent Abuse programme, supporting parents to understand behaviour and increase safety at home
All support is trauma-informed and centred around understanding and choice.
Support That Works Around You
We know there’s no single “right” way to access support. Parents can take a flexible, pick-and-mix approach, choosing what feels helpful at different times.
Some parents may attend a drop-in session or workshop, while others benefit from one-to-one support. While one-to-one support is currently available in certain funded areas, all other services are open to any parent or carer, wherever they live.
Parents can move between different types of support as their needs change. There is no fixed pathway, no pressure, and no time limit. Support remains available whenever it’s needed.
Workshops and Peer Support
We also provide:
- Wellbeing and resilience workshops, supporting parents to prioritise self-care and manage stress.
- Practical tools and techniques to help respond safely.
- Skills-based learning to strengthen understanding.
- A closed, monitored peer support group, offering a confidential space to feel understood and listened to alongside with like minded parental figures.
Our Impact This Year
Behind every number is a parent who took a brave step toward support.
- 4,026 referrals received
- 2,466 parents attended practitioner-led drop-in sessions
- 2,413 parents accessed at least one practitioner support session
- 597 parents accessed multiple one-to-one sessions
In 2025 alone, we also had 890 new members in our Peer Support group!
Supporting Families Across the UK
Parents accessed PEGS support from across the country, with the highest number of referrals from:
- West Midlands (281)
- Derbyshire (249)
- Essex (199)
- Shropshire (186)
- Devon (172)
- Cheshire (162)
- Greater London (157)
- Worcestershire (153)
- Staffordshire (145)
- Gloucestershire (124)
This reflects both growing awareness of CPA and the continued need for specialist support.
You Are Not Failing - You Are Seeking Support
Many parents worry that asking for help means they’ve failed. In reality, reaching out is an act of strength. CPA is complex, and with the right support, parents can rebuild safety, confidence and connection.
Whether someone attends one session or engages in longer-term support, every step matters.
