PEGS Awarded Funding from Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Police and Crime Commissioner!

We are delighted to share that PEGS has been awarded funding from the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Police and Crime Commissioner! As an organisation, our mission has always been to improve understanding of Child to Parent Abuse, amplify the voices of parental figures, and help ensure families receive the informed, compassionate support they deserve.

Despite growing awareness, Child to Parent Abuse remains one of the most misunderstood and under-recognised forms of abuse within the family home. Many parental figures continue to tell us that they feel isolated or unsure where to turn for support. We know that professionals play a vital role in recognising Child to Parent Abuse and responding effectively when families reach out for help. That's why this funding is so important.

Thanks to the support of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Police and Crime Commissioner, PEGS will be able to deliver a programme of fully funded professional development opportunities across the area, helping professionals build confidence, knowledge, and understanding around CPA.

What's Coming?

Through this funding, we will be delivering:

  • 2 fully funded full-day Child to Parent Abuse training sessions

  • 6 fully funded one-hour awareness sessions

These opportunities will be available to professionals working alongside families across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Whether you work in safeguarding, education, policing, health, early help, family support, housing, youth services, these sessions will provide valuable insights into recognising Child to Parent Abuse, understanding its impact, and responding in ways that support the whole family.

Improving awareness is not just about increasing knowledge. It is about helping families feel heard. It is about recognising fear within the family home. It is about ensuring parental figures do not have to repeatedly explain or justify their experiences before receiving support.

When professionals understand Child to Parent Abuse, families are more likely to receive timely, informed, and compassionate responses.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Police and Crime Commissioner for recognising the importance of this work and investing in better outcomes for families impacted by Child to Parent Abuse. Partnerships like this help us continue building understanding, challenging misconceptions, and improving responses for families who too often feel silenced.

Do you work alongside families in Cambridgeshire or Peterborough?

If you think you, your colleagues, or your wider organisation would benefit from increasing your understanding of Child to Parent Abuse, we'd love to connect with you.

Together, we can continue building more informed, compassionate and effective responses for families impacted by CPA.
