Half-price student tickets for Child to Parent Abuse conference

Students have the chance to hear from leading Child to Parent Abuse experts at a discounted rate.


Half-price student tickets are available for the upcoming Breaking the Silence conference, hosted by social enterprise PEGS at Shrewsbury Football Club in Shropshire.


A limited number are on sale – so places should be booked as soon as possible to secure a seat at the conference, which takes place on Tuesday 14 th October. It is the first in-person event after a series of successful virtual events organised by PEGS, and will be specifically focused on how Child to Parent Abuse links to the issue of safeguarding.


Students looking to enter careers within emergency services, education, health and social care would be find the day particularly relevant. Speakers will include Annelli Peavot, Head of Safeguarding at Canterbury Christ Church University; Billy Cragg-Hughes, Lead for the Child/Adult Child to Parent Abuse Service at Warrington Borough Council; Fiona Wells, Adoption Expert and Founder of PATCH; Gemma Roberts, CEO of Preston Domestic Violence Service; and Mandi Whittle, Lecturer of Criminology at Lancaster University.


PEGS Founder Michelle John said: “We want to encourage the next generation of Child to Parent Abuse experts, meaning that in the future affected parents and carers should have even more support when it comes to reaching out to professionals. So, it’s important to us that the conference is attended not only by those already working within relevant professions, but also the students who will be

doing so in years to come"


“That’s why we have made a limited number of tickets available for just £45 for the entire day – there are also four optional workshops that students can purchase a space at when they buy their ticket for the main event."
