A Little Message: PEGS' Volunteer
Volunteering at PEGS
I started volunteering for pegs roughly two years ago , I decided to volunteer for pegs due to my own personal experiences and had previously accessed pegs as a parent.
Pegs was the only service that was there for me as a parent that I believe truly understood what I was going through .
The pegs team at that time was very small and has now grown into a larger team of practitioners ( which is sad and due to demand ) however the team are all brilliant at what they do within their different roles . Pegs now offers more services to parents and the drop in sessions have increased to daily , it has been lovely to be a part of this journey and positive changes to support parents who access pegs
As I volunteer for the peer support page I have regular contact with the founding director and some other staff members when needed , I have always felt fully supported as a volunteer and any questions or advice I need has been answered / given very quickly.
As a volunteer I have also joined in the practitioner led drop ins , I enjoyed meeting parents some regular and some new , through my own journey I felt was able to offer some advice if needed or just be there as a listening ear this was always welcomed by the practitioner leading the session.
The founding director has always listened to my thoughts , views and ideas she has taken them into consideration as I volunteer i feel that I am listened to and my thoughts are valued.
Becoming a volunteer has helped me grow as a person and helped my confidence grow massively , I’m happy to give back to the service that helped me when I needed it.
I can’t offer hours each day of my time but any time I give is always appreciated and I’m always thanked for.
I love being part of the Pegs’s team and would encourage anyone who feels they could volunteer to do so regardless of the time they have free as even a small amount of time is always appreciated.
Thankyou to the director for letting me be a part of the team.
