Why CPA Awareness Day Matters - Download Your Free 2026 Awareness Pack

Save the Date: Tuesday 14th October 2026

Despite its impact, CPA remains one of the least recognised and least understood forms of abuse.

Many parental figures tell us they have spent years feeling isolated, blamed, or unsure where to turn for support. Others say they didn't even realise there was a name for what they were experiencing.

That is why Child to Parent Abuse Awareness Day matters.

Held annually on 14th October, #CPAAwarenessDay is an opportunity for all of us to come together to raise awareness, challenge misconceptions, and strengthen understanding of Child to Parent Abuse.

Awareness alone will not change lives but it is where change begins.

Why is this day so important?

When Child to Parent Abuse is not recognised, families can be left feeling invisible.

Parents may be told it is "just a phase", blamed for what they are experiencing, or find themselves repeatedly explaining their situation before they are believed.

Professionals can want to help but may not always have the knowledge, confidence, or resources to recognise CPA and respond effectively.

Communities may never have heard of Child to Parent Abuse at all.

Every conversation we have helps change that.

By increasing awareness, we help more families recognise that they are not alone, encourage earlier support, and contribute to improving professional understanding and responses.

Every conversation creates change

Raising awareness does not always mean organising a large event.

  • Sometimes, it is as simple as starting a conversation.

  • Sharing a post.

  • Displaying a poster.

  • Talking with colleagues.

  • Wearing purple.

Or helping one more person learn more about what Child to Parent Abuse is.

Small actions, repeated across thousands of people, create meaningful change.

Every post shared has the potential to reach someone who has never heard of CPA before.

Every individual taking part helps bring Child to Parent Abuse further into public awareness.
