About PEGS

PEGS is a social enterprise supporting parents, carers and guardians who are experiencing Child to Parent Abuse.

We are here to listen, believe and walk alongside parents who may feel frightened, isolated, judged or unsure where to turn. We also work with professionals, organisations and decision makers to improve understanding, strengthen responses and help create safer outcomes for families.

Child to Parent Abuse can affect any family. It can involve physical, emotional, verbal, financial, digital, coercive or sexual abuse, and it can be displayed by children of any age.

At PEGS, we know parents are often blamed, dismissed or left to cope alone. We exist to change that.

Support from PEGS Child to Parent Abuse

At PEGS, we know parents are often blamed, dismissed or left to cope alone. We exist to change that.

A Safe Place To Be Heard

people supporting each other

PEGS was created because too many parents experiencing Child to Parent Abuse were being left without specialist support.

Many were told it was just challenging behaviour. Many felt blamed for what was happening at home. Many were trying to protect themselves, their children and their wider family while carrying shame, fear and exhaustion behind closed doors.

We believe parents deserve better.

Our work is built around compassion, practical support and real change. We support parents directly, train frontline professionals, influence policy and raise awareness so that Child to Parent Abuse is recognised and responded to with care, confidence and understanding.

Our Story

Built from lived experience. Driven by hope.

PEGS was founded by Michelle John after her own experience of Child to Parent Abuse showed her just how little specialist support existed for parents in this situation.

Michelle does not share the personal details of her experience, but she has spoken openly about the impact it had and the deep need for parents to be listened to, believed and supported without judgement.

Out of that experience came PEGS.

What began as a response to a painful gap in support has grown into a UK wide organisation helping parents, training professionals, influencing policy and challenging the silence around Child to Parent Abuse.

PEGS was created out of trauma, but it has always moved forward with love, passion and determination.

Today, we continue to stand beside parents who may feel they have nowhere else to go. We help professionals understand what Child to Parent Abuse really looks like. And we work to create a future where no parent is left feeling blamed, ashamed or alone.
