The Domestic Abuse Commissioner’s new Strategic Plan
We’re pleased to share the Domestic Abuse Commissioner’s new Strategic Plan for 2026–29.
The new three-year plan comes at an important time, setting out priorities for improving the response to domestic abuse and addressing some of the ongoing challenges experienced by those reaching out for support.
The plan has been shaped by listening to victims and survivors, frontline domestic abuse services, statutory agencies and political leaders. Through this engagement, three persistent issues were identified:
Too many people reaching out for help are not receiving the response they need at the time they need it.
Frontline domestic abuse services continue to face significant funding pressures.
When systems fail people experiencing domestic abuse, there is often limited accountability.
Over the next three years, the Domestic Abuse Commissioner and her office will focus on specialist services, health, policing and probation, using their statutory powers, evidence and convening role to support accountability and systemic improvement.
