3-year evaluation
National Lottery funding helps thousands of parental figures
It is with true pride that we are able to reveal the impact of the Lottery grant we were awarded three years ago, which has seen PEGS able to support thousands of parents.
Back in 2022, we were supported by the National Lottery Community Fund to start a three-year project which included our provision of one-to-one bespoke support and advocacy; delivery of workshops, programmes and practitioner-led sessions; and facilitation of our closed Facebook peer support group. That funding has now come to an end, but we were able to reveal a few weeks ago
that we had been success in a further bid, meaning a Lottery grant will cover some of our services for the next three years, until 2028.
Alongside this, we have been evaluating the first project, as well as assessing what we can learn from and improve upon as we go forward.
The headline numbers:
- We provided more than 2,100 one-to-one support packages to those at high risk due to Child to Parent Abuse.
- We held more than 1,800 practitioner-led sessions.
- Almost 4,500 parents or carers attended at least one of these sessions during the three years.
- The PEGS team spoke to almost 2,500 professionals on an individual basis.
- We acted as advocates in more than 2,600 meetings.
Parents’ feedback:
- 94% of parent or carers receiving one-to-one support reported animprovement in wellbeing, 96% said their confidence had increased, and 74%
- were calling the police about incidents of CPA less frequently.
- 99% of parental figures said they would recommend our support to others.
- 100% said practitioner-led sessions improved their wellbeing.
- 99% said our workshops were useful, 99% said they would continue to use
- the techniques they’d learned during them, and 100% would recommend
- them to others.
Our Founder Michelle says:
“While we are naturally pleased to report such a resounding success in terms of the feedback from parents and carers, and the number of individuals we’ve been able to support as a result of the Lottery grant, for us what matters most is the stories behind
each one of these statistics. “The team may run PEGS, but truly the organisation belongs to a community of incredible people who are facing some of the most unsafe and traumatic times of their lives. It has been a true privilege to be able to listen to, support and empower so many parental figures who have, for a long time, gone unseen and unheard. “We have learned so much from them too, they inspire us every single day and we are so proud of them all.”
